About Us
Welcome to Summerwind Golden's. Summerwind was started in Woodstock, Illinois by Laura and Sarah Kokaska. Laura continues to reside there with the girls. We are also located in Loveland, Colorado where Sarah, and her fiance Ben Sherwin have made Colorado their permanent home. Residing with them are the boys "Bear" and "Jett".
Our first Golden was "Annie", who was purchased as a companion and a potential obedience dog. Annie and Laura went on to obtain the Utility Dog title with multiple Dog world Awards both in the United States and Canada. Annie opened the door to the wonderful world of Golden's and the hobby of Dog Training and Showing.
Summerwind Golden's was started in 1993 with the addition of "Sierra", Empyreal's Summerwind
High Life, CD, CGC and pointed. Sierra first introduced us to Conformation Showing and then she quickly became Sarah's first Junior Showmanship dog.
At Summerwind we actively show in Conformation, Obedience, and Rally. Recently we have also started training in Agility and Tracking. We have taught Obedience, Rally, and Conformation both at our local AKC Club, Obedience Club, and in the McHenry County 4 H Dog program.
Summerwind bred Golden's have participated and excelled in many activities in the dog sport. From Bench Champion to Certified Service dogs. From Obedience Trial dog to hunting companion. Our Golden's are bred for their sweet, affable temperament while always remembering that they are Retrievers. They are bred to be a well loved and active member of the family.
First and Foremost our Golden's are members of our family and are our friends. They are forever our sweet and loving companions. All of our Golden's live in our home, for they need to be with their people. Our Golden Retrievers are not meant to be kennel dogs. All litters are born and raised in the home. They are exposed to the activities of daily living right away.
